Arthritis

Have you been told that you have arthritis? Do you wake up stiff or have pain on movement?
Many people think that nothing can be done except continually take medication for the pain. Medication may mask the symptoms but does not do anything to cure the condition or stop in from progressing. In addition, if the pain is masked, you may overdo certain activities, and ultimately worsen the condition.
There are alternatives. In addition to encouraging our patients to stay moderately active, we assess the joint and muscles surrounding the joint: is a specific muscle in chronic spasm affecting movement, or is a particular muscle weak, therefore putting increased stress on a joint? We also assess the possible effects of poor posture or bad habits including dietary factors that can aggravate the condition.
Many times a patient is surprised at the level of activity they are able to achieve through chiropractic treatment and care.
